A plumber {come) to our house yesterday. He {want) to

repair our washing machine th at (break) a few days before.

Before he {ring) at my door, he {look) for a parking space

in the street. W hile the plum ber {repair) the washing machine,

I (watch) the news. Suddenly, I {realise) th a t they

{show) our street on TV. The rep o rter {say) th a t a car

{crash) into a stop sign ju st before reaching the crossroads.

W hile I {listen) carefully to what (happen), someone

(knock) at my door. I {open) the door and {see) a police

officer standing there. He {ask) for the plumber. As

it {turn) out, it {be) our plum ber’s car th at {roll) down

the street. In his haste, the plum ber {forget) to put

the handbrake on.

  2. When thieves stole my favourite leather jacket, I was really upset. I (have) it for over ten years.

  3. Please step out of the car, Mr. Jones. Do you realise you
